Best Snorkeling Destinations in the Caribbean
Isla Mujeres, Mexico
How about an up-close and personal encounter with the biggest fish in the sea? Yep, come to Isla Mujeres between June to August every year to witness a massive whale shark congregation that is sure to blow your mind. Even before you take a dip, you’ll see hundreds of dorsal fins skimming the surface—a truly awe-inspiring sight. You might also spot dolphins, manta rays, and native flamingos along the shore. Isla Mujeres is located in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.
Stingray City, Grand Cayman
Stingray City is located in the shallow waters of the northwest corner of Grand Cayman’s North Sound. It consists of a string of sandbars where stingrays gather. Bring some squid treats and you’ll be rewarded with playful encounters that are sure to leave you spellbound. The best part? You can visit year-round.
Cayo Diablo National Park, Puerto Rico
From Fajardo in eastern Puerto Rico, Cayo Diablo is just a 20-minute boat ride away. The area is known for its Elkhorn and Staghorn corals and jagged limestone periphery. However, the true stars here are the extraordinary sea turtles that call these waters home.

Clearer waters here make it a better snorkeling spot compared to its counterpart in Grenada.
Belize

From late January to early March, these gentle giants migrate through the waters near Salt Cay and Grand Turk, offering an unforgettable, up-close encounter. Unlike typical reef snorkeling, this is a chance to float in open water as a 40-ton whale swims gracefully by, an experience that’s as humbling as it is exhilarating.
